More Information about The Zangwills

The Zangwills met while at 6th form college in Northwich and were joined by frontman Jake Vickers’ schoolfriend Adam Spence on drums. Each of them bring very different influences to the band and that, along with Jake’s instantly recognisable vocals, is reflected in their distinctive sound.

With a reputation for incredibly strong live performances, they have built a passionate following who are prepared to travel in significant numbers to see them play. Their dates very often sell out in advance, including Manchester Academy and The Grace in London. They are often joined for their live shows by Jess Lees on backing vocals.

Supports have included Yungblud and a much-coveted slot with The Charlatans at their North by Northwich event. Festival slots have included Dot to Dot, Focus Wales, Sound City, Un-Convention, Rivfest (headline) and a 60 min, Saturday Mainstage slot at Wychwood Festival.

Their song Judas on the Dancefloor is about the issues surrounding groping, spiking and harassment on nights out. The video for it was produced by Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) and BAFTA-winning young Director Lowri Roberts. It went on to win the award for Best International Music Video at Focus Wales Film Festival 2022.

Chester based and with members from Chester, Warrington and Northwich, the band have released music steadily including two EP’s and have a new single, recorded with Gordon Raphael (The Strokes) due for release in September 2023.
